THE BRIDGE AT CORNELL NYC TECH BREAKS GROUND AND IS UNVEILED TO THE PUBLIC
The Bridge, Cornell Tech's pioneering building for the digital economy, creates a new paradigm that will bring academia and industry under one roof. The building broke ground today on the iconic Roosevelt Island. Attended by Mayor Bill de Blasio and former mayor Michael Bloomberg, the groundbreaking marks the beginning of construction for New York City's newest university, which is scheduled to open in 2017.
The WEISS/MANFREDI-designed building is a major advancement in the university's effort to promote innovation on its new campus. "The Bridge is a crystalline incubator with river-to-river views and creates a three-dimensional crossroads, an ecosystem of innovation to catalyze collaboration between academics and entrepreneurs," say design partners Marion Weiss and Michael A. Manfredi.
Developed by Forest City Ratner Companies, The Bridge is a first of its kind seven-story loft, with connecting common spaces that encourage random interactions and productive collaborations. The project was unveiled this week in Fast Company. For more information on the project, visit the website for The Bridge at Cornell NYC Tech.
